Steven A. Castleton
Veteran Advocate
of the Year 2023

Meet our honoree, Steven A. Castleton, the renowned philanthropist, and strategist with a remarkable track record of supporting various political, Fortune 500, and not-for-profit organizations. Through his expertise in outreach, fundraising, consumer awareness, and crisis management campaigns, Steven has helped raise over $100 million for numerous causes and individuals.

Steven's recent notable achievement was the historic event "Opening the World for 2023" at the New York Stock Exchange. For the first time in its 231-year history, an enlistment ceremony involving all branches of the Armed Forces took place on the trading floor, broadcast live on CNBC. Steven, alongside General Gary Brito and new enlistees, rang the first Opening Bell of 2023, symbolizing the commitment to defend the Constitution of the United States.

Recognizing the importance of education, Steven awarded over $5.4M  in college scholarships to four future ROTC cadets, surprising them with this life-changing opportunity. Furthermore, his dedication to veterans' rights led him to advocate for policy changes in the Veterans Administration, ultimately resulting in the passage of the "SAVE LIVES Act," enabling all veterans, their spouses, and caregivers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at any VA Facility.

Passionate about supporting service members and their families, Steven has organized various events and initiatives around the world. From coordinating flag football games for deployed troops across the globe, as Military and First Responder Liaison for the New York Jets, he has brought a sense of joy and camaraderie to those serving overseas.

In addition to his philanthropic endeavors, Steven has been recognized by prestigious organizations and received accolades for his commitment to public service. Notably, he was presented with the Meritorious Public Service Medal from the United States Army and was a nominee for the 2021 NFL Honors Salute to Service Award.


Steven's dedication to making a positive impact extends beyond his professional endeavors. As a proud member of the community, he has generously donated to organizations such as Long Island Cares, ensuring that tens of thousands of veterans and their families receive support during the holiday season.

With his remarkable achievements, unwavering dedication, and selfless service, Steven A. Castleton stands as an exceptional honoree, exemplifying the values of community service and support for veterans.



THOMAS JOY
FIRST RESPONDER
of the Year 2023

Meet our esteemed honoree, Thomas Joy who embodies a lifetime of service and dedication to his community and the nation. A proud US Army veteran with 24 years of service, Thomas has served in both Active Duty and the Reserves. His exceptional military career includes combat duty in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he earned a Combat Action Badge, as well as assignments in Europe and across the United States.


Alongside his military commitment, Thomas has made significant contributions as a law enforcement officer. He attended the Westchester County Police Academy and served in the City of Mount Vernon Police Department before joining the Suffolk County Police Department. Driven by his passion for community building, Thomas played a pivotal role as a founding member of the Suffolk County Police Asian Jade Society. This police fraternal nonprofit serves as a bridge between the department and the Asian American community, promoting careers in law enforcement and celebrating Asian languages, culture, heritage, and cuisine.


In 2020, Thomas established the American Malayalee Law Enforcement United (AMLEU), a national law enforcement charity organization, becoming the first AMLEU President. 


Recognized for his expertise and commitment, Thomas was appointed as a board member on the Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board, advising the County Executive on matters related to legislation, business development, and cultural understanding within the Asian American community.


Thomas's unwavering commitment to serving his community, his continued service in the US Army, and his philanthropic efforts make him an exceptional honoree. A proud father to his son, Matteo, Thomas serves as an inspiration to others, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he encounters.


AMRISH DIAS
CONTEMPORARY
of the Year 2023

Meet our esteemed honoree, Amrish, a 26-year veteran in the mortgage industry and the current branch manager at Cardinal Financial. Amrish's unwavering drive stems from his genuine passion for helping individuals achieve their dreams of homeownership and financial prosperity.


Recognizing the invaluable contributions of those who have served our country, Amrish is deeply committed to supporting veterans. With his extensive expertise and thought leadership, he actively contributes to educating and empowering veterans through podcasts and educational seminars, to empower them with the necessary tools to maximize their benefits and access greater opportunities.


Amrish's commitment to his community runs deep, as evidenced by his consistent support and charitable contributions. For three consecutive years, he has been a generous donor to the Pink Cans for Cancer benefit, an initiative close to his heart. Additionally, Amrish actively contributes to noteworthy charities such as the INN, McNamara Charity, and the ALS walkathon.


We take great pride in honoring Amrish for his remarkable contributions to the Long Island community and for his partnership with our chosen charity, Paws of War, in 2023. His unwavering dedication and philanthropic spirit serve as an inspiration to us all.
